IUD (mature content)

Today was an emotional day. For years my husband and I have tried to have kids. Unfortunately we've lost 3 to miscarriage. I know that choosing to have WLS is going to greatly improve my chances later. I will be so much more healthy & fit & able to carry a baby. It has been proven that fertility greatly increases with weight loss. So they have advised me to use 2 forms of birth control. I chose not to take oral contraception but rather an iud & condoms. I feel that the risks will be lower and hopefully it will be quicker and easier to get pregnant more quickly. Still in the back of my mind and heart it seems weird. To be trying so hard to get pregnant and now doing something to prevent it. I know I made the right decision. But it's odd.

As far as the insertion goes. Well it was painful. Not so much the iud but the speculum. I felt cramping for a while. But now (10 hours) later it feels like monthly cramps again. They try and put it in within 7 days after your cycle starts. I have to go back in 4 weeks to check and make sure it hasn't expelled. I'm really hoping they will call me back from the surgeons office tomorrow to schedule my surgery. The hope is when I got back to my obgyn I will be much smaller :).

P.S. The doc did mention I have a pretty uterus. Haha. Hopefully that means its great for having babies. Lets hope so.

 Ten Questions

1. Describe the kind of home you would live in if money were no object.  An earth bag or cob home would be lovely. I would have lots of nooks & crannies built in. Everything would be solar or earth friendly. We would have lots of land to grow things & trees.

2. Are you more conservative in your actions or more rebellious? I would say conservative. I try & keep a low profile.

3. Would you go to Mars even if it meant you could never return to Earth?  Not unless the atmosphere changed lol.

4. Name one song that makes you want to dance every time you hear it. Cruse by Florida Georgia line.

5. Share one thing that you wish you could go back and do differently in your life.  Defiantly my health. I would not have waited to become a mom either.

6. Share at least one accomplishment that people wouldn’t expect you to be proud of.  I've lived in our house now for 6 years now. That's the longest I've lived anywhere.

7. Describe one delicious thing that you’ve eaten lately.  OMG sugar free pineapple Popsicles are sooooo good. All the tropical a flavors are awesome.

8. If you had a theme song that would play every time you entered a room, which song would you choose?  I gotcha back boy by Keri Hilson

9. Had technology enhanced your life, or has it over complicated your life?  Both. I love my gadgets and without the technology I wouldn't be writing this post or connecting with so many great people.  Bad thing is we rely in tech stuff & computers way too much. If God forbid an EMP would happen, life would be a mess & many would loose their lives because we have no back up plan.

10. If you could get paid to do any job, which job would you choose?  I could probably play games all day. Love playing bingo blitz, bingo bash, bingo heaven, & candy crush. ( I know I like bingo).

Ok it's your turn.

Met the surgeon

Today I had my visit with the surgeon. She was so very nice. She agreed the
Sleeve gastrectomy was probably best for me. She went over a few things that might happen. Then I had to fill out a bunch more paperwork on my understanding of the procedure and what not. I was really hoping to get my surgery date today, but I have to wait a few days for insurance approval. I was really kinda down about this. I'm just so ready to get it over with. My hubby is too. I think I'm going to start telling people that I'm now in a drama and worry free bubble. I need to stay positive right now. Some family & close friends are just bringing down. One person, who really means well, just makes more drama and worry. I just gotta keep my eye on the prize. I have come so far. I know I can do this. I don't need to be discouraged. For the one or two that cause me stress I have, many many others cheering me on.

Seat Belt

Went out to dinner with my hubby & some friends today. Usually I never wear seat belt because it won't fit. On a whim I decided to try it today. I was totally shocked to find it not only fit but it was comfortable too. Yay. Woohoo.

Last Doc Visit

Met for my fourth and final weight loss doc visit. I had lost another 4 pounds now putting me at 406. Yay me!!!  She said everything looked good. She was glad I was feeling better from the pneumonia & dehydration. I was worried it might delay things. But she said my lungs sounded great and all my levels looked good. So now all I have to do us wait for the surgeon to call for a consult.

I also went for my last nutrition class. They explained what we will have to do the 2 weeks before and there after the surgery. I'm gonna do another post on it. It's a lot. I'm getting closer.

Coughing

I have never coughed so much in all my life. Still suffering from pneumonia but slowly starting to feel better. After about 3 days the antibiotics finally kicked in. I knew it was good to cough. I needed to get the junk out of my lungs, but dang. I coughed till my sides ached and ached. And forget about sleep. There was no way. I tried everything to control it but not much worked. Finally the doctor gave me some kick butt cough syrup that gave me some relief. I'm not one to take meds so I tried all natural stuff first. Thought I would do a list of some of the stuff I found. Maybe it will help someone else. Please note I'm in no way an expert or doctor. You should really consult your doctor before trying anything.

I'm gonna give each thing between 1-5 stars. This is how it worked for me. Keep in mind I do have bacterial pneumonia.

Honey- 🌟🌟
Your suppose to use local honey. 1 to 2 teaspoons. The honey did coat the back of my throat. But as soon as I swallowed it, the coughing returned.

Hot tea- 🌟🌟🌟
Any hot tea will work. You can also just use hot water with lemon & honey to taste. I used wild orange from tazio. It seemed to soothe my throat and the coughing would stop for a short while.

Garlic- (I did not try this)
You are supposed to chew a Clove of garlic for coughing. I wasn't brave enough. Let me know if it works for you.

Vicks-  ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
This is gonna sound very strange, but hey. Place Vicks vapor rub on the bottoms if your feet. Then wear socks over night. You can also put some on your chest to open air ways. This did help with nasal congestion but did nothing to stop the coughing.

Robitussin- 🌟
This only made me cough more.

Hot shower/ steam- 🌟🌟🌟
The warm air seams to help but as soon as I stopped it started again.

Whiskey/ Moonshine & honey- 🌟🌟🌟
Worked about the same as hot tea. Helps to relax you too lol hiccup.

Tessalon perles- 🌟
Prescription did absolutely nothing. (The precautions are crazy, please be very careful when using this medicine)

Hycoden- 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I call this liquid gold. It stopped the coughing to we're I could sleep. When I woke up I was actually able to cough up some junk.  Before it was just this awful tickle that was uncontrollable.

Peppermint/Hard Candy- 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It defiantly stopped the coughing. But I had to constantly keep one in my mouth. Eventually my mouth started getting sore spots & of course I couldn't sleep with one in my mouth.

Sipping water- 🌟🌟🌟
It is very important to stay hydrated. Sipping the water did help but only as I was drinking.
